I don't believe the Phillies are working directly with Drive Line, but they hired Jason Ochart from Drive Line so the effect is probably similar.
I'm sure any of the beat writers would be happy to take your suggestion for investigation. Definitely seems like an interesting piece for the Athletic, either by a beat writer such as Gelb or Montemurro or by one of the National Writers, Eno Sarris in particular.

Slow-pitch BP is useful for working on swing mechanics and using those mechanics to get the bat head to the ball--sort of getting a "feel" for contact in addition to working on your mechanics. Better than working off a tee, not quite as good (in my humble opinion) as flip drills. Higher speed BP is for timing, spin recognition, and grooving trajectories. When I played and coached in college (admittedly a very long time ago) we did both.
