All four major sports and the MLS have an unprecedented six home games in Los Angeles area today; Dodgers, Rams, Kings, Ducks, Clippers and Galaxy.
LA went 3-2 in the five games with the Dodgers and Galaxy losing. They fared better than Philadelphia did on October 16, 1983 when the Phillies lost the decisive game of the WS while the Eagles, Flyers and Sixers (albeit in a preseason game) also lost. Only the Phillies were at home though. I never forgot the general feeling of sports pall that day.
Is this properly an equinox, or more a solstice? Not sure - haven't delved into dictionary definitions of these, but solstice is seasonal high/low point, no?
