Reading the discussion of Rodriguez’s statements about fans booing, I was reminded how contradictory people are. You see so much rudeness and meanness, like an article I read this morning from the NY Post about a woman on a bus telling a teenager wearing a hijab to go back where she came from and throwing her soda at her. Just when I’m depressed by the state of the world, someone does an act of kindness. Yesterday I let the dogs out at lunch. We have a golden retriever and a Chesapeake Bay Retriever. We live on a corner and have a fenced in yard, so our golden loves to be in the yard and run to greet people when they go by. Anyway, when the dogs were out I noticed someone had placed a one foot by about eight inch wooden carving of a golden retriever on my fence. We felt so warm and good about it.
Anyway, when people think about being rude or booing, remember how a simple act of kindness can make people feel good about people. Maybe they will pass that kindness forward to someone else.
