Drug of abuse includes pot, in this day and age I gotta believe people are just not getting caught/tested that heavily, more than I could believe suspension rates reflect usage.

What caught my eye was that they don't get paid during the suspension. They don't just forfeit playing time; they also lose the pittance expected to cover living expenses. It seems harsh to penalise the minor league players the same as much higher paid major league players. This could make life particularly difficult for young players who haven't received signing bonuses.

Well of course I don't think weed should be on the list especially these days but, it is, so if you're dumb enough to use during the season (or for a month or two before) so be it. A suspension where you only can't play but still get paid isn't really a suspension. But yeah, how do they pay the rent for a month?

GCL players are housed by the team in nearby hotels and don't pay rent. But they don't make much after deducting for clubhouse dues, food (when not eating club sponsored dining), general living expenses. We all know what a travesty minor league pay is but at least for these 3 GCL players there is no rent cost to them.
