PHILLIES ANNOUNCE TRANSACTIONS
Prior to tonight’s game, left-hander Hoby Milner and outfielder Cameron Perkins had their contracts selected from triple-A Lehigh Valley. To make room for them on the 25-man roster, right-hander Jeanmar Gomez and outfielder Michael Saunders were designated for assignment. Vice President & General Manger Matt Klentak made the announcements.
Milner, who will wear #55, has posted a 2.60 ERA (8 ER, 27.2 IP) with 27 strikeouts to just four walks in 22 relief appearances for the IronPigs this season. Perkins, who will wear #30, is batting .298 (62-208) with a .388 on-base percentage which ranks third-best in the International League and a .476 slugging percentage. He has 17 doubles, a triple, six home runs and 27 walks against only 35 strikeouts in 241 plate appearances for the IronPigs.
Gomez was 3-2 with two saves and a 7.25 ERA (18 ER, 22.1 IP) in 18 appearances for the Phillies this year. Last season, he finished fifth among all National League relievers in saves (37), ninth-most in a single season in Phillies franchise history.
Saunders started 50 games for Philadelphia this season and was batting .205 with nine doubles, two triples and six home runs.
