PHILLIES ADD ANDY GALDI TO BASEBALL OPERATIONS STAFF
The Phillies have hired Andy Galdi as the club’s director of baseball research & development, Vice President & General Manager Matt Klentak announced today. Galdi will oversee all baseball analytics, including data visualization and reporting, statistical research, and data infrastructure.
For the past three years, Galdi, 30, worked at Google in Mountain View, Calif., where he served as a quantitative analyst for YouTube. Galdi’s baseball career dates back to 2009 when he worked as a baseball operations intern with the New York Mets. Following his work at the Mets, Galdi spent two years at the NBA Commissioner’s Office as a statistical analyst in league operations focusing on analyzing referees and the impact of potential rules changes.
A 2008 graduate of the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill with a double major in business administration and mathematics, Galdi earned his master’s degree in statistics from Stanford University in 2013.
