It is certainly good that they have a prominent Japanese player of some kind, even if it's one nobody really wanted. He had to choose to take the minor league deal instead of just staying with Japanese team. Posting fee obviously won't be high.
We had So Taguchi the same year as Iguchi's second turn (which was short and playoff-ineligible). Taguchi, despite being almost as much of a bomb as Harrison or Merrifield (he'd been solid in 2007) actually did survive the whole year and made the playoff roster.
