The Phillies DSL back end strategy is clearly evolving into a 1-year tryout for most of the sub $10K signings. 70-player roster limit for 2 teams with limited additions for 60-day IL and suspended players. I suspect they have not assigned some of these players to a roster, but assume there also are a number of quiet in-season releases.

It makes sense that there seem to be more older 18 and 19 year olds signed these days as they likely have been released (and then grown or got better in the next year or two). This does not seem to be the most supportive system for many of these less talented players.

As of now, all of the players listed as signed in the top post are on a roster: Ramon Marquez is on the FCL roster, and the rest of them are on one of the two DSL rosters. The two DSL rosters currently have a total of 76 players listed, but 10 of those are either restricted or on the 60-day IL.

That doesn't mean that none of these guys has been released...DSL releases often only appear on the milb.com transactions pages after some delay (sometimes a long delay).

And yeah, there will be additional releases coming. (Duh... that's like my saying the sun will rise.; of course there will be releases. There always are. )

They actually post most releases pretty quickly with the roster limits. This is injury and innings backfill plus interesting guys from tryouts and scouting. I am pretty sure all are getting into games quickly. I don’t have it all in spreadsheet, but I am only missing arsenals on like two of them.

If you have 70 DSL players, maybe 20? will make it stateside and half will flame out in FLC/Clearwater.
So the other 50 shouldn't take that long to weed out and once you know they lack upside are you doing a favor to them by stringing them out for another season?
