Phils head to Arizona after splitting the series in SF and spoiling Tim Lincecum's MLB debut. Freddy Garcia will be a game time decision after his run in with the cart during BP yesterday.

Ryan Howard is sitting again, some thinking he may be headed to the DL with a couple nagging injuries.

Disappointing start to the series in Arizona, and now it's another Adam Eaton game. Ugh. Rollins cooling off, Burrell seems to have lost his power, Dobbs instead of Howard, it's the kinda game I might skip watching, late start for us back home and all.

This latest stretch of misery has the Phils 5 games under .500, their worst since they were 7 games under back on April 20th. They look to salvage a game in Arizona before returning back east. It's 44 year old Jamie Moyer vs 43 year old Randy Johnson. Johnson is struggling, hasn't won a game yet. They last faced each other over 17 years ago. Ryan Howard not on the DL, but not in the lineup again. Ugh.

This game just reminded me of that time when Ryan Howard was incredibly successful as a PH. Obviously he didnt do it often in his career, but at one point he had about a 1.500 OPS as a PH. For those who didnt look in the game thread he hit a PH salami in this one.

Well, Ryan Howard, who many were hoping would get DL'd or demoted, hit a huge pinch hit grand slam (as foreshadowed above) to salvage the finale in Arizona. Off day feels a lot better now. 10 game homestand starts tomorrow vs the lovable loser Cubs.

Phils four games under .500 at 15-19, 6 1/2 games back.

After the game, Howard hit the disabled list. Fifteen days later, he came back a new man.

I loved the 1980 and 1983 teams, very different from each other of course but both were great seasons to be a Phillies Fan.

1993 was genuinely special because of personality and a bunch of crazy guys all having their career season at the same time.

2007 was great because of JRoll. I was not his biggest fan, but he made that season. He said it, he backed it up. Not often that really happens in sports. The 20th Triple on the last day of the season was one of the best moments to be a Phillies Fan.

2008 was special in a different way. The moment Vic hit the GS against Milwaukee I honestly think we were absolutely going to win it all, just a matter of playing the games. Howard telling the guys "just get on, I will get you in" in the 9th inning of one game and then doing it was the crowning moment. The series against TB to me was almost a exhibition of how special this team was, the outcome was decided before it started.

Nice win, Pat the Bat with a coupla homers yesterday. They said Howard might return to the lineup today, but he's not in it, instead he's headed to the DL. Freddy Garcia tries to build on his encouraging start last time out. Phils caught the Marlins for third with yesterday's win. (*Spoiler, the team will never drop lower than third the rest of the season).

With Ryan Howard on the DL folk hero Chris Coste has been called up. Guys like Nunez, Ruiz and Dobbs came through yesterday for the 11-7 win. Back to 2 games under .500 yet again. Going for a sweep today. Jayson Werth gets his first start since May 2nd today.

Well, no sweep yesterday. Now we get the Brewers for four, the surprising Milwaukee with the best record in the league. Some of us are thinking their division's a little easier, so we'll see how we fare against the hottest team in MLB.

The Brewers had been 21-0 when leading after 7 innings until they came to play the '07 Phils. Then yesterday they got their 'most devastating loss of the year'. Good stuff.

Well, 2 games under .500 again. Every time they've hit that mark this year they've lost the next game. Time to break that pattern. But it's Eaton's turn again.

Well, a Carlos Ruiz walkoff homer will take the sting out of a blown save, and the Phils finally get to within one game of .500. The papers are letting us know that his teammates call rookie Ruiz "Chooch".

Blowout loss, Phils are 7 1/2 back of the Mets, and we're debating if there's not enough season left to make up that big of a deficit.

But if Phils win today they'll have gone 7-3 on the homestand.

Despite that Werth guy getting his first 2 homers as a Phil last night, not a happy result. One game under, we've got Garcia going against the Fish at Dolphin Stadium, but their guy (Kim) has been worse.

Rod Barajas in the lineup again, we're all wondering what he's got to do to let the Ruiz kid get more time back there.
