Honestly, there is no way they aren't documenting and analyzing exactly this down to the every pitch. We just don't get to see the data. If they send a guy out there to pitch to one batter, their info says the match-up probability (which is not longer about lefty-righty or head-to-head but also specific pitches and delivery and swing paths) outweighs all other considerations, including how likely the original pitcher was to get an out and the impact on usage. We're still judging these moves based on what we know from 10 and 20 years ago.
