Interesting SSS

We are 4 games into the season, and while I'm a bit perplexed at our manager I've decided to give him some time. With that said, and also noting again that we are 4 games into the season, our hitting has been absolutely atrocious. Keep in mind this was against a Braves staff that isn't very good and the same Matt Harvey that has an ERA above 5 the past couple of years. When looking through the stats, these two really stand out to me:

1. We are currently 25/133 (.188) this season. Yes our team is batting below the Mendoza line.
2. We are even worse with RISP at 4/35 (.114). It is hard to get any worse than this.

Only 4 games into the season (no panic yet), but thought these numbers were crazy.

Your thread title is an oxymoron. Small sample size data is essentially meaningless...hence by definition should not be "alarming."

Change it if you want. Maybe to interesting. Still shows that we have been an awful hitting team against not so good pitching to start the season,

They are leading the league in pitches-per-PA, so it should come.

Does RISP even matter any more in the current game? Home plate and 1B should be considered scoring position now.

(But the RISP will also normalize, it always does. If you're good at hitting, the gap in either direction is usually meaningless. In a big enough sample. Which is no consolation in a playoff series obviously.)

Unless they are forcing an approach on some free swingers that does not work. Agree the offense will come around and everything is SSS, but we really don't know much about the new regime's hitting approach and whether it will work.

Good to be home I'm sure. Plus the Marlins are just that much worse than Atlanta and the Mets.
