I think we used to wait to see if the forecast was true. Certainly the forecast is still often wrong, somewhat surprised that they took action this early.

I think any normal game they wouldn't have but with three hours of pre-game festivities, a daytime start, a sold-out crowd and Friday already open, it was easier to just call it. If they'd opened the ballpark it would have wound up being in the umpire's hands rather than the team and MLB. Gotta be a big inconvenience for some but an opportunity for others.

One assumes the forecast is also pretty solid. Not that they might not be able to play, but they don't want to play with delays. Better for Wheeler and an extra off-day for our bullpen too.

According the radars I’ve been checking out, it didn’t rain a lick, and only a slight chance of getting light rain later on. There would have been plenty of time to get all the festivities in as well as the game. Baltimore did have a storm roll through, however,

When one day's forecast is 50% rain and the next is 0% - it just makes sense to switch. That is why they leave the off day in the first place. If both days were 50% they would have rolled the dice on today.

Still, a lot of people really got screwed. Many can't make it or may be observant about Good Friday. Should have waited until the morning to make the call.

Well, I couldn't go Thursday because of Passover and now I can go. I wonder if that's why Sunday's game (which will have the ring ceremony) isn't selling as well.

It's best, especially when it's so convenient to move it to Friday's off day, to not set up 40,000 phans for disappointment. As it turns out, yesterday was significantly warmer than today, but I'll don a jacket and head out to the Field of Dreams. As for Good Friday, I guess it's the Church of Baseball that wins.

To each his or her own and I certainly respect your choice. For me, doing something fun and festive on Good Friday doesn't sit right for me spiritually. I found someone else to use my ticket. I hope it was a great day at the ballpark despite the meh weather!

Regardless, a win makes it a good day. Phillies take the home opener over the Reds, 5-2. A home run by Realmuto was the big hit.

I understand how you feel. I would feel a bit guilty, but if I had a ticket, I would have gone. But I would have had to forego the hot dogs.
