z - Essentially no third-party Twitter apps work at this point. Twitter (at Musk's order) altered the APIs specifically to kill them off.
I'm afraid I can't really help with Twitter settings (assuming you're using either the native Twitter app for your platform, or twitter.com). I used to use a third-party app (Tweetbot) that died when the APIs were closed off. Between that kind of nonsense, Musk's other shenanigans (sacking most of the content moderation team, re-enabling neo-Nazis, demanding that the Twitter algorithms be modified to preferentially show everybody his posts, etc.), I chose the obvious course and terminated my account.
The mess that is Twitter is going to get worse. There have been recurring service outages reported in recent weeks, and given the massive RIFs that Musk implemented, that's not particularly surprising. Beyond that, some are of the opinion that it's only a matter of time until bigger problems cause the whole mess to go into the fan:
As of now, only a small percentage of Twitter users appear to have migrated in any real way to alternatives (Mastodon, post.news, etc.), but I would think that, as Twitter continues to fall apart, more of them will do so.
