I think since Quinn and Valentin both were coming back from injury, at bats at AAA are actually a good thing and we'll probably see them both called up at some point this season.

I hope they aren't doing many pinch hit/pinch run situations where you're using 2 bench guys for 1 move. The bench is way too short for that. And I hope Kapler is enough of a free thinker to PH the back-up catcher on occasion.

I don't think they'll do as much pinch running without Quinn whose role might have been almost half pinch-running appearances, We'll do some with Kingery - I just think he'll be in the starting lineup much of the time. If he is not, I imagine he'll pinch run sometimes for Franco or Santana or Hoskins late in the game, but only in cases where they do not need to save the pinch hitter. Quinn would have been more of a pure pinch running substitution.

Quinn would have pinch-run and been a defensive replacement. With Kingery you could PR him in the 5th or 6th and then he'd also get ABs. In any case, Kingery and Florimon can both play 7 positions, Quinn wasn't gonna be able to play the other three IF spots really.

If you're willing allow for the possiblity that Santana can emergency catch, and Kingery and Florimon (and Hernandez and Franco and Hoskins) can all play 1B, no reason not to PH the back-up catcher occasionally. Though it's also nice when the back-up catcher isn't your best option (i.e. they are probably better than Florimon, but last year they were better than Blanco, Florimon, Kelly and Saunders).
