Assume Ranger fell below the inning requirements again.

Stott winning after only having 60 professional games and 5 college games at 2nd base before this year would be so awesome

Not that surprising though. I remember when Galvis got called up for the first time to spell Utley, as a very good SS he was an instantly great 2B. And Segura was obviously much better once they moved him. The irony is Bryson still might be the best SS on the team (if not definitively, certainly as Turner continues to age).

It's amusing to me that Mookie Betts is listed as a utility player. Utility players typically don't get 693 plate appearances. :slightly_smiling_face:

Well, it doesn't mean bench player, it just means you play a lot of positions. It's interesting he can be nominated for both though. You'd think there'd be a cut-off for either playing one position a certain amount or not playing others enough (and I suppose there probably is in the latter case?). Seong Kim got double-nominated too.

(It being a new category it doesn't seem like they have announced how you qualify as a utility player. But Betts played enough RF to qualify there obviously).

If Betts wins in RF and Kim at 2B, does Edman win at utility by default?

One might say the same thing happened in San Diego, where Kim was the regular shortstop last year and was bumped by the big money free agent signing. Chicago, too, as Hoerner was the Cubs' SS last year, though Swanson is a Gold Glove finalist himself.
