Phillies take 1-0 lead in top of the first.

Devi Garcia gets Quinn on pop up on full count and K's Segura.
Then Gregorius and Realmuto double to score the run.
Hoskins and Kingery walk to load basses. Haseley grounds out, 3-1 to end inning.

Garcia throws 33 pitches in the first.

Velasquez all over the place with his location.

Nice curveball to get Stanton. But HBP, infield single, and walk to load the bases.

VV with HBP pitch, single, and walk to load the bases but worked in strikeouts of Judge, Stanton, and Sanchez to get the scoreless inning and leave the bases loaded. Pitch count in the mid-twenties.

Yup. Of course this is a really tough stretch of hitters to go through, but I thought we were seeing locked-in Vinnie in Spring/Summer Camp. There is a 3rd starter locked in there somewhere.

Best positive in the first inning was that he was throwing the changeup regularly. Pretty good location and movement though the RH hitters did not chase. He needs that different look from his breaking ball if he wants to remain a starter. Velocity also an easy 93-94. That is always there. Assume he can be 96-97 in relief if he had to. Did touch 96 in the first on 1 pitch though the command was better at 93.

Williams with a single, moves to third on pick off attempt that was about ten to fifteen feet wide of the firstbaseman. Quinn lined a two out single to right to score Williams. Then Quinn was drilled in the back on a pick off attempt and then Segura drilled on the hand for the HBP. Segura leaves the game. Garcia lifted by the Yankees. David Hale coming in with two on, two out.

Ouch.

Gregorius grounds out to first to end the inning.

Bohn pinch ran for Segura. So now he has batted in the 10 position and I guess is now batting second.

Vince pitches a 1-2-3 third inning and Phillies still lead, 2-0.

Williams and Bohn had back to back singles in the fourth but no runs scored.

Still 2-0.

Note on batting order, Bohn stayed at the bottom but moves to 9th. Segura was second but left the game and they just skip him now, so Gregorius hit second instead of third, etc.

Velasquez has 1-2-3 bottom of the 4th and has retired 9 in a row after the lead off double by Volt to start the second inning. He is looking good and using all his pitches.

Top of the fifth starts with back to back walks to Realmuto and Hoskins. Kingery pops first pitch to short left for the first out. Not a very good at bat for Kingery. Hale is then lifted and Nick Nelson comes in to pitch for New York. Haseley will be first batter he faces.

Haseley lines hard to the right fielder and Walker strikes out on a couple change ups.

Score remains 2-0 going to the bottom of the fifth.

Yes, I don't know why I was doing that. Once he plays regularly, I hope not to make that mistake.

Kinda forgot Blake Parker was still with us. So he and Kelley are the last two veteran NRIs. Guerra, McLain and Stock currently on the 40.

I love watching Marchant back there. Snap throw had the runner at first if Gosselin makes a decent tag.

I find it interesting how MLB falsifies the box scores to account for extra outs by changing one of the previous outs to a FC. So Judge hits a home run with a runner on base (actually he was the third out and was only on base in the box score) but only one run scores.

Frankly, I wish they would have just left Vince go with the five shutout innings.

Llovera on to pitch for the Phillies. Don't know much about him.

Yes, game ends 2-2. Yankees earn a tie with the extra chance in the 5th.

I keep telling myself that these games are even less meaningful than the real spring training game, which themselves are meaningful only in giving players chances to play and prepare for the season.

Velasquez looked good tonight. Bullpen pitchers also did well.

Bring on Miami for baseball that counts.
