I think they were just being careful with Herrera and Altherr, imagine them getting injured again in meaningless September games!
Klentak probably wants to audition as many players as possible just to see if there's anything worth salvaging.

Klentak probably sees 2018 as a transition year, he's not going to rush the Lehigh OFs who clearly aren't ready (let's see Quinn actually play a full month, etc.).
Come 2019 he can fill the bench with role players like Cozens and Tocci, have Moniak in Reading, Randolph in Lehigh and probably Haseley in Lehigh.
He'll have Mora/Valentin ready for a utility role and the young IFs in Reading and Clearwater.
So you just have to patch the roster for a year until the pipeline starts producing.

We know now Kim's been playing because Nava hasn't been able to play (except as a PH). Beyond that, I just think he had one good game and so Mackanin gave him another start. That's really it. Klentak does seem to like to leave every option open, I'm sure Kim is being evaluated a little bit, and yes, they are probably already done with their evaluation of Perkins.

The real issue here should be how much they play Joseph. Because there isn't going to be a Williams-Herrera-Altherr OF every day if Hoskins isn't also playing 1B.

WIth Herrera, Altherr and Nava hurting, I can understand Kim getting playing time. If Kim continues to start now that Altherr and Herrera are back, then a change in manager must be made ASAP.

That's a mighty melodramatic statement. If the GM chooses to leave Kim on the roster the manager should play him. Not much, but just like any other bench guy. And if the GM has told the manager to play him more than that, should he be fired?
