Three hours before first pitch tonight,Neil Walker was designated for assignment and Ronald Torreyes was selected
Adam Morgan was also reinstated, and Ramon Rosso is up as the 29th man for today’s twin bill.

Rosso seems likely the game 2 starter. I also don't see Brogdon on the active roster so he must have been optioned for Morgan.

Torreyes seems to be here briefly until Kingery is ready, but probably good to have a late inning defensive sub for Bohm. Give Didi a rest in one of the DH too potentially.

It doesn't make sense to call Torreyes up and then subject him to waivers... probably planning to option Garlick for Kingery. After 9/15 Torreyes can't be on another team's playoff roster so will be safer to DFA him (for Bruce) then.

We could see Torreyes in CF I suspect.

For all the analytics out there, with this team it might not be the worst thing to have a player on the bench who can always catch the ball and rarely does anything stupid. Even Bryce (bunting with 2 strikes) and JT (trying to take 3rd base on his steal) are victims of the stupid.

Joe Girardi said the Phillies DFA'd Neil Walker and brought up Ronald Torreyes because they needed more versatile defensive coverage. Torreyes can play infield and OF, including center field.

He is kind of like Kingery without the power though he is also a better shortstop. If we have a lead I assume Bohm is going to get subbed for just about every time after the 7th (or maybe the 5th in a DH) inning.

Assume this probably means no more Bryce in CF too which is probably a good thing. He needs less stuff to worry about as he is working through mechanical issues at the plate.

I don’t care about Bohm’s defense. With this team’s inability to hold a lead, his bat in a game is essential at all times.

Yeah, I don't think we'll see Bohm pulled that often. This is mostly a short-term thing. Torreyes might start in CF tomorrow, and again if neither Quinn nor Kingery come back before the series is over. Or he could do one game at SS to let Didi DH or rest.

Walker was not gonna make it to the playoff roster anyway (assuming full health) and Torreyes won't either (ditto).
