We were told we’d get endless pitching changes in September but Kapler left Davis out there for a second inning and more runs.

Down four runs already I have no problem waiving the white flag there and leaving Davis in the game. Save some bullets for the next day.

It might be time to explore tandem starts for Eflin and others as the season goes on. It would not have made much difference for Eflin tonight as he was mediocre the first time through the order, but I might have him throw harder for 3-4 innings and then turn it over to Eickhoff or De Los Santos to do the same thing the next time around.

Eflin's stuff was very flat today. No life on his fastball. Less break on his breaking pitches than typical. He was just very hittable even if his velocity was fine.
