The guys we acquired were Guerra, McLain and Stock. I think they were only fireballs relative to Morin, Parker and Hughes, whom they essentially replaced. Certainly Kelley (who came off the 40 and back) is not. And Stock didn't make the team. I really thought Parker might. I believe he's still in Allentown, as is Edgar Garcia?
That's also where the raw stuff is, except for Rosso. Their hope is that Jones or Cleavenger or Brogdon or Russ can be useful after a month or so, much as Seranthony was his rookie season (Garcia was also supposed to do that and has not).
And they still really need Pivetta and/or Velasquez to embrace the pen.
The optimistic picture has a September 1 bullpen that includes one trade acquisition and one of those three green guys, plus Arano, Robertson and Suarez. That would be a lot of optimism, but either way, not many paths to concrete improvement for the next three weeks, more like whack-a-mole.
