Glad it's a four game series. Our bats have certainly had their chances in this one.

5th and 6th inning relievers are always ugly to watch, unfortunately this season (and in these doubleheaders) they are as important as 7th and 8th inning relievers. And the three-batter limit can get you too.

I don't imagine the results would be any different if we were watching Storen or Swarzak or Stock or Liriano, but they couldn't be worse.

Probably no different. It is just a terrible bullpen no matter how you slice it. Not that we would have won today anyway, but the bullpen is really the thing that prevents this team from being any better than a .500 club.

The only hope is really to ride Nola and Wheeler and hopefully a couple of other starters to go deep in the game. Arrieta has shown he might have something left. Eflin and Velazquez need to step up too. Howard will get more chances against lesser teams also. If we can run 6-7 inning starts out there regularly we might have a chance.

Well, the thing about being a .500 club is you only need a few breaks to win 86-87 games, which was about all I expected. And now this season 29 wins might still get you in.

For now I'll settle for just seeing Adam Morgan fail to get Freddie Freeman out in the 8th inning of a 5-4 game, or Hector giving up a home run in one of those.
