Perhaps part of the reason for flip flopping Walker with Sanchez was because of the off day on Monday, September 2. Sanchez could possibly start again on Tuesday, and we would not need a 5th starter until Saturday, September 7. More options would be available at that time as far as who would start that game. And the opponent is Miami, so perhaps a lesser pitcher could navigate that starting assignment.
This would mean all 4 starters would have to work on normal rest next week, which goes against what has been stated earlier about getting everyone more rest by possibly going to a 6-man rotation.
