Probably not completely Thomson’s decision to keep trotting Walker out there. But I would assume that all the Phillies brain trust would agree at this point that this is Walker’s last start in 2024. Unless there’s a meaningless game in September that we need someone to eat innings.

Yeah, I don't typically react this way, but...

DFA Walker after the game, and ask outright waivers on him.

• If some other GM is willing to take on his contract, that's a win.

• If he clears waivers, and he refuses the outright (opts for free agency), that's a win, too.

• If he clears waivers and accepts the outright assignment, that's a win, too. He keeps his salary, and maybe he/they can figure something out, without throwing away any more major-league games.
