The Phils have three runs on six hits. No walks, no Pirate errors. What rate of runners scoring do you expect?
It seems to me that Kapler's obsession with flexibility should be seriously tamped down by his superiors. The club had a functional lineup until McCutchen went down. But then, instead of making modest adjustments to replace McCutchen, Kap went more-or-less crazy with lineups.
I know that statistically, a lineup doesn't make that much difference. But psychologically, moving human beings around like chess pieces (in lineups, in bullpens, on the field) sometimes blows up spectacularly. I think it's time to say "enough."
