that really was a big loss. Next year done too.

In October, we may look back at this game as the turning point that moved the Phillies out of post season play.

A horrendous loss when we get one of the best starts of the year from Nola and have the lead twice, but can't hold it.

Sadly, this might just sum up the season. Just not good enough.

Enough is enough with Andrew Knapp. Guy can’t catch the ball and can’t catch up with a low 90s fastball. He better not be in a Phillies uniform next year.

No need to try to resign Herrera, Miller, McCutchen, Velazquez, Anderson, or Moore.

All true, but this loss is on the manager. Even worse, even if his strategy worked, the win wouldn't have been worth over-pitching Nola. That was abuse of pitcher. The manager has panicked. This reminds me of Mauch in 1964. And yes, the season is effectively over. The Phillies organization needs therapy for low self-image. It has a loser mentality that it very rarely manages to shake for a season. Too many old advisors and hangers-on to allow the organization to really change.

This is literally how my friend's kid's team lost a week or two ago in the preliminaries for the Little League World Series. That wild pitch should really have been called a passed ball. Knapp did not do the basic things needed to try and block the ball, instead trying to take a backhand stab at it. Marchan or an import needs to be given a serious chance to win the backup job next season. The "calls a good game" reputation is keeping a mediocre player in a job he is now overpaid for.

Well, not quite yet, but it is becoming clear that this is not a playoff team and that Girardi either isn’t the answer to get there or isn’t going to be interested in trying to build (it isn’t a rebuild if you didn’t have something to begin with).

Leaving Nola in like that was a terrible decision.
