I had a vision of Leiter falling short of first base and the ball rolling out of his glove into right field. It would not have come as a surprise in this game.

Not much to say about that inning. A check of the box score confirms ten UNEARNED runs that inning.

If Suarez and Leiter are supposed to auditioning for roster spots in September and beyond, neither has helped his cause this afternoon. The fielding errors are irritating, but some of them could have been avoided or minimized with better pitching.

If there’s one positive about this game, it’s that the Phillies bats seem to be coming around.
