Thats interesting. Pivetta had issues last year in accepting that he needed to go to Lehigh Valley to work on things. I wonder if he has an inflated sense of self worth hat is completely at odds with the results he has been getting.
Watching the game last night two things jumped out at me about his performance, one his velocity was down. Typically his fastball averages between 94.5 and 95.5 MPH. Last night he was floating around 93.5 MPH

Secondly, he looked really slim to me, I don't know if that is real or my eyes/memory playing tricks on me.
I think he needs to go back to LHV and figure out his mechanics. I'm not ready to give up on him yet, but I am quickly losing patience. Let him work with a coach in LHV and see if they can figure out what he was doing wrong last night, can he get back up to 95, or even add a mile or two.
I have no interest in seeing Trevor Kelly again.
I can imagine some being upset that they took Nola out with 90 pitches, but you have to be able to trust the back end of the bullpen with a 12 run lead. Its crazy how bad they have been as a unit. There are currently 15 pitchers on the active roster, 6 of whom are starters for now. I'm fairly confident in each of those 6 and their ability to keep a game within reach more often than not. Of the remaining 9 relievers we have 4 who I think we can trust to be competent or better, even if they will have occasional bad outings. Neris, Alvarez, Morgan and Hunter have all established themselves as major league relievers, and I think we can forgive Morgan and Hunter their bad outings this year, especially as Hunter bounced back.
The rest of the bullpen though?! 7 other relievers have appeared in games this year, they have completed 34.7% of the total innings, and given up 51.5% of the hits and 61.8% of the earned runs.
Starters WHIP 1.05, "Good" relievers WHIP 1.40, "Bad" Relievers WHIP 2.16, bringing the Pen as a whole to 1.9 - assuming I calculated this correctly.
Starters Hits Per 9 7.3. Good Relievers 9.9, Bad Relievers 16.9, Bullpen as a whole 14.6.
How can a bullpen be this bad. I know its early and small sample size applies, but after tonights game we will have completed 20% of the season.
