I'm having a little trouble getting my head around the idea that it's July, we're running up to the All-Star Break, and the Phillies are flirting with first place in the Eastern Division. I really did not expect to be here at this point.

I don't think this club is as good as the 1993 version, but the... unexpectedness ... of this half-season reminds me a lot of what that season was like.

Probably time to waive the 5-inning rule. Whoever is pitcher of record when the team gets the lead should get the win. It never made sense to me that a starter pitching 4.2 innings could not get a win while the reliever that pitches one third of an inning could. It is an anachronistic rule that does not make sense any more.

Well, I'm only the reporter here, but... The official scorer is required to designate a winning pitcher. They're precluded from assigning the win to Pivetta. Davis is the closest thing to a pitcher of record they've got. Now, if somebody else pitches multiple innings, more effectively than Davis, you might make an argument. But as of now? Ramos pitched 2/3 of an inning; Hunter one inning.
