The article makes a pretty strong case that playing Marsh wouldn't be worse than the results Merrifield and Pache have provided, though that's a path they should have committed to months ago to see if he could do it. I didn't realize just how little he was. They shouldn't have treated him any differently than Rojas, just live with the defense while he tries to get there, since the alternatives were scarcely better.
To be fair the past month things got kind of scrambled (first Marsh was hurt then Rojas got demoted) and they would surely play Stott at 2B today if that DH spot wasn't open (but if they didn't Marsh would still be sitting).
Now it's really too late to give Marsh more opportunities because there's no way they aren't going to acquire someone. Hopefully at Whit's expense rather than Pache's (but they still likely need a LH bench bat). If Whit does stay he should only play IF and there aren't a ton of chances to do that over Sosa either.
