Well, they gave it a go. Nice work by the low-leverage relievers. Not great defense or starting pitching. And the 7th run is probably on the manager even if 5 and 6 aren't.

So easy to blame the offense and they deserve plenty of blame, but a bad start from Nola also earned a loss. Defense also contributed to the loss. No excuses for this dismal performance. Yet in spite of the many things we can find fault with, the Phillies did come back and came close to winning the game.

In fact, I was envisioning Turner coming up with two outs and the bases loaded in the top of the ninth and getting a bases clearing hit. If only JT would have struck out.

They gave it away. No hitting with RISP; weak SP; horrid play in the field by some. That’s not giving it a go; that’s hardly showing up. That was a poorly played game by highly paid players. Not acceptable.

Nola was bad and so were most of our veteran hitters. The guys getting paid millions have to step up for this team.

Yeah, 6 runs is still giving it go. The bad ABs may have outweighted the big hits but there were still big hits. And the bullpen was perfect. A better job by Nola, better defense and a quicker hook from Thomson and even five runs might have won it.

Was awful. You'd never guess how good he's pitched watching him this game. We may admire Big Rob's nerves of steel in sticking with his players and particularly his pitchers, but Nola was obviously off and needed to be rescued.

Not going anywhere playing like that.

Fielding was also especially bad in this game. While there was only one error, there were five or six other plays where the fielding failed to make a play they could have made.
