The Nationals and Phillies game has been postponed because of Washington’s covid outbreak, sources tell ESPN. Multiple players and coaches have tested positive today after Trea Turner did yesterday. Size of outbreak remains to be seen, but may wind up as biggest in MLB this year.

So probably will have the next game called off too (I hope they just make them call up players to fill out the roster). Having today off probably isn’t so bad. Gives the bullpen rest. Don’t really like the idea of not playing tomorrow either though.

That’s actually probably the best case scenario for us even though we haven’t swept a DH in like 15 years. We get bullpen arms rested today. Get Wheeler who should be able to go most of the way for G1. Then get most if not all of our BP arms for game 2 to relieve Vince as quickly as possible. Plus we’ll probably get to play the Nationals C squad for two games

only 4 players tested positve.. besides Turner we arent sure which ones..

I know in this day and age they would never do it... But if Wheeler was dealing through 7 of the 1st game.. bring him back out for 2 or 3 in the 2nd lol

except the majority of the positives were vaccinated..

Of the dozen Nationals players and staff who have tested positive for COVID-19, the vast majority were vaccinated, sources tell ESPN. A number of the breakthrough positives came with those given the single-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

Which they fundamentally are, tomorrow. Today's postponement was for safety reasons, not because the Nats wouldn't have been able to put enough guys on the field.

Everyone is playing by the same rules. The irony is if you get a bigger break-out you are able to bring in more players.
