But even slumping he is still as good or better than Stott or Gregorius and even with someone like Bohm. The reality is we don't have anyone good in the 3 hitter role when we leadoff Schwarber. Vierling deserves more playing time, but he is really not a better hitter than Castellanos. We just get decent defense if he is in the lineup (especially in RF if we can DH Castellanos occasionally).
Castellanos has been awful, but there really was nobody deserving of dislodging him in the lineup when you throw out small sample size data.
