Both ground balls could have been easy outs if hit a little closer to a fielder. Neither was particularly well hit.

Two seeing-eye singles lead to the end of Nola’s outing. Still a quite impressive effort; was hoping for the complete game once he came out to start the 9th, but now just want to ensure we clinch a sweep of these pesky Marlins.

The walk in the eighth inning was, to me the first sign that Nola was tiring - losing the sharpness a bit. But this is MLB, and the urge to compete sometimes overrides objectivity in the dugout.

A nice win to finish off a 5-4 road trip with its ups and downs - two wins against the Cardinals, followed by two losses to them and the Blue Jays, and then a 3-game sweep of the Marlins

This whole idea of trying to get a complete game is silly to me. More than half of the roster is pitchers, unless you have a very tired bullpen there is really no reason to push to get a complete game (unless it is a no hitter).

Road trip starts with 2 wins and ends with 3. 5-4 is okay and the break will give everyone a needed few days off. Interesting note: this road trip started with back to back shutout wins and ends with back to back shutout wins. Phillies also had back to back shutout wins July 3 and 5. Six shutouts so far in July.

Alvarado gets a save and Nola the win for a 6-7 record. He hasn't had too many breaks on wins this season. Six above .500 at 49-43.

Bohm and Camargo with 2 hits each today. Munoz with the two run home run. Doubles by JT, Bohm, and Vierling. Enough hitting especially with great pitching. Phillies hold Miami to one run in the three games.

On to the draft, and the All Star festivities and game.

I think Munz has done a solid job and earned a bench spot. He is a guy who can pinch hit with a chance to hit one out of the park

I certainly wouldn't give his spot to Maton. When Segura comes back you might debate him vs. Camargo. They are both guys the Phillies can keep around if they want (i.e. on the 40/with tenders) but probably can't have both, and Camargo is still a switch-hitter (and I think a better defender) whereas Munoz bats from the same side as both Bohm and Segura (and Vierling for that matter). Stott can be most easily optioned of course (along with Hall who is also pretty hard to fit in once Harper's back) but he's really the only true SS.

It will be interesting to see if they really address either the IF or OF at all especialy now that SP is the #1 need.

I like the suggestion about Joey Gallo. Cut Herrera, put Moniak at AAA.

Moniak's already at AAA. And heck, Joey Gallo's WAR and OPS is lower than Herrera's right now! Plus we've got Hall and eventually Harper at the plate. Just not sure he really is the answer in the field, and especially not CF.
