This is just silly with Moniak. It keeps getting said that Herrera isn't hitting better, but he is, he has about a .570 OPS over the last 2 months. That is terrible, but it is almost double what Moniak is doing.

They can't just keep letting him waste at bats in close games. He has a sub .400 OPS now in a little over 100 PA's. Has anyone ever been that bad to start his career?

The Phillies may be ending any chance Moniak has of becoming a big leaguer by continuing to let him struggle like they have. He looked so good coming out of spring training but needed the steady AAA at bats. I have always thought that Howard and Utley benefitted by being in AAA too long rather than too short a time. I keep hoping Moniak will start crushing the ball but clearly, he is struggling.

Very true. They simply can't afford to play Moniak.

Whether the Phillies development/coaching staff ruined him or he was totally mis-scouted the numbers don't lie and he isn't remotely close to being an acceptable MLB player. I do recall reading a lot about the Phillies working to boost his power and him getting stronger through training as he got older. With all of that, his ISO is a humongous 0.023 and the easy, high contact swing which Gillick raved so much about is no where to be found.
