Comcast guys are wondering why Thomson hasn't been hired full-time, Ruben tried to explain that it's against MLB rules to not have a full search without actually saying what those rules are, thereby setting up Kruk to blast MLB and make it sound like he's against giving minority candidates a chance.

1.5 games out of last playoff spot. Maybe it isn't hopeless, but it will be hard to go more than tread water without Harper.

My fear is this is yet another "almost playoff season", but at least it is keeping my interest through the season I hope.

Bullpen is settling in, and they have Romero in rehab and Brogdon coming back soon.

Maybe it's time to stop buying guys, Hand might be the only FA to give them any return the last few years, SD, Brogdon homegrown, Alvarado low cost acquisition, Bellatti and Nelson bargain basement finds. Appel has a shot of adding to this group.

Falter is frustrating, he has good enough stuff to start in the Show, but his command is inconsistent. Maybe just needs a full year in AAA and a little more physical maturity.

I loved Kruk as a player and like him as a broadcaster despite the fact that he's always struck me as a good ol' boy from West Virginia. He's smart enough to not go full Curt Schilling though.

Thomson seems to have really done the job of turning down the heat and just letting everyone get comfortable in their own skins. Stott seems to be settling in as a major leaguer. Vierling looks like he could be an every day ML outfielder. Bohm is looking relaxed. The guys in the bullpen seem to have settled in. Stott, Bohr, and Vierling seem to be the long sought after “low cost home grown” talent that we have been looking for. Hall? Too early to tell but he should at least hold up for one trip around the league which is what is needed to sub for Harper as the lefty power bat. Our needs at the trade deadline could be drastically reduced to just another starter to slip into Eflin’s spot.

Oh I think Kruk was just flat-out dumb - I see nothing about his broadcast career that suggests he'd be well-informed about, well, anything. He's there to tell stories and be emotional. Barkann also didn't know about the rule, unless the whole thing was pre-scripted. Kruk was not being malicious but Ruben failed to actually say the rule had anything to do with diversity or minority hiring policy.

So if Thomson leads the team to the playoffs the team still can not offer him the "full time" managers job without doing "proper" interviews. Wouldn't this be a slap in the face to either Thomson if not offered the job or the others being "interviewed" if they really don't have a chance to get the job?
