Back to back walk off wins. They do it this time with one out. Diaz seemed to be able to get ahead in the count but except for JT swinging at a ball for his K, all the other hitters hung in and either walked or hit the ball hard. Diaz was in the 30's on pitch count in the inning.

Have to hand it to Kapler, setting up this opportunity for another walk off win.

Cannot say how important this win is. Only regret now is that Nola pitches 7 shutout innings and doesn't get the win. But the team does and that is what counts.

SWEEP of the METS. Now on to Miami and win that series.

At least Neris can pitch two days in a row. Apparently Diaz can't!

So, 1 run in 8 inning followed by 8 runs in 1 inning. Oh, and blown saves by both closers.

Don't forget Franco's big home run to tie the game. When was the last time the Phillies got a 2 run and then a 3 run homer in the bottom of the ninth?

Going into the ninth up 1-0, who would have expected a 6-3 win?

I'd love to see 1-2 benhc players brought in for a the stretch that have some pop.

You mean at the expense of the 8th man in the bullpen? Or in place of current bench guys?

If bency guys... current bench is Knapp, Miller, Rodriguez, Quinn (assuming Kingery in CF, Franco at 3B). Who do you want to jettison?

One can similarly question Callaway for leaving Diaz in the game for 30+ pitches in the ninth. A lot is predicated on who you trust out of the bullpen. Hopefully Kapler learns from this and will not go to Neris on back to back to back days. I don’t know that we’ll be seeing Callaway too much longer as the Mets manager.

I know, no easy answers. I suppose I'd need to see - I guess on MLBTR free agent - who may come cheaply that represents an upgrade.

Phillies run up DIaz' ERA to 4.94 today.

My hope is that the good efforts we saw this series from Hammer, Garcia, and Nicasio will continue. I am sure Neris will bounce back and be fine if not over used. If Kapler has a full pen of effective relievers it becomes less likely that any one will be overused. Getting an effective version of Hunter and Robertson in the pen by sometime in July will really help.

A good day to have Stott signed and around the team before he heads to Clearwater to get his career started. Nothing like wins to trigger the team "chemistry" that we all know is so important.

Lots of positives to take from this game and this series.

Maikel is hitting again, hes probably not the answer but nice to have his bat hot for now. Nola has just pitched two gems back to back, maybe hes getting back to normal, not 2018 Nola but ~3-3.5 ERA Nola would be welcome right now. Kingery still hitting well, Nicasio is looking like a real pitcher.

Four days ago we looked sunk and with very little hope, we are still a long shot for the division but we are on course for 86 wins (though many of the first 43 were achieved with McCuctchen in the lineup), getting to 90 isn't inconceivable. We're at worst tied for the first wild card by the end of the day and while the Marlins swept us last week, there are tougher series to have ahead.

Now, where can I get a bamboo plant and will it survive in Irish weather?
