That's a tough one. Kind of a pitcher's duel but not with all those base runners.

I think it's okay to pull Stott for the platoon advantage there. He's either heading back to AAA or his usage will be managed and that was the latter.

Wasn't really expecting them to make up for the poor series in Texas with a series win in SD - will take the split, and of course the win is still possible.

Interesting note: Washington follows the Phillies into Texas and they won the first game in their series against the Rangers tonight.

No question that the Phillies are going through a rough patch. They need to get the offense going and put together some series wins soon. The biggest problem at this time is the offense.

In the end, Aaron Nola and the Phillies lost the game on the 0-2 single by Austin Nola. With no runs from the Phillies offense tonight, that is all it took.

The lineup defies sense. While not ideal, at the top of the order, Schwarber and Hoskins do have the ability to get on base to set the table. It's when Harper goes into a funk that the middle of the order kills the night. It's odd since Castellanos and Realmuto are historically good hitters. The bottom third of the order has held its own. Bohm has hit reasonably well as has whoever has been in CF. The order just can't seem to put it together.

Bohm has been terrible offensively overall this season - 81 OPS+. So far, he's one of the worst hitting regulars in MLB for the second year in a row.

Yeah and Herrera has been awful too - his OPS+ has slipped to 92 and it's 41 in the last 28 days (a .510 regular OPS).

I get it, they have both had their moments, anecdotally and statistically at certain points, but in reality, overall, the Phillies are getting nothing from the 7-9 spots, including Camargo, and Didi's merely average too. That Castellanos and Realmuto are actually worse than Didi is the bigger issue but I don't think this team can get to August without adding a position player.

That bottom of the order is also supposed to set the table for Schwarber and Hoskins.

Probably time to start giving Bohm an occasional rest day against right-handed pitching. Camargo at least gives us defense even though he is not a better hitter either. I wonder if Maton getting healthy could be the thing that would really push Bohm into less playing time because that would introduce a left-handed bat that might be able to outhit Bohm against right-handed pitching.

Vierling also is probably earning a few more starts in CF. And all those pro-Moniak supporters should have heart. Moniak was pushed to the majors without AAA time after his injury when Herrera was also playing well. Now we have Moniak doing better in AAA and Herrera worse in the majors. Mickey time might actually come by the All Star break if this continues.
