Yeah. It's like Kap has forgotten what worked in April/May. Kingery's production can pretty much replace McCutchen's in the lineup, so use him that way. Restore the rest of the lineup, as much as possible, to what was obviously working:

Bruce
Realmuto
Hernandez
Quinn

I'd slot Bruce in ahead of Realmuto largely because it gives you the L-R-L-R in the meat of the order - these are the guys you want to make it difficult for other teams to get the platoon advantage.

Giving Aaron Nola the opportunity for an extra plate appearance ahead of Quinn? Why? Yeah, it's "like having another leadoff hitter in the 9-hole" - a bad one.

I like the 9-hole/another lead-off hitter thing, though IIRC, stats don't really show much difference. I doubt it means the pitcher will get an extra AB. And with that current 1-3 arrangement it makes more sense than otherwise.

Otherwise, they think it helps the whole team to see a lot of pitches early in the first inning. Kingery and Segura don't give you that. But Kingery should probably be hitting 2nd or 3rd (if not leadoff) just so he gets more ABs.

Obviously they are in "try anything" mode. It's a shame Cesar was so cold.

The gimmick lineup failed miserably last night but I don't think the lineup order was the reason for another loss. Frankly, I don't like this batting order.

I really would like a win tonight. I'd love to see a strong start for Nola and some fireworks from the Phillies' bats.

I dont know that I think McCutcheon/Segura was a world apart from Kingery/Segura, insofar as pitches seen is concerned.

Got to see all the ceremony at msnbc Philadelphia. Chase definitely is the silver fox. Manuel and Middleton presented him with hand painted glove picturing him. He thanked in order Monty, Manuel and the philly phans. Middleton looks younger than I thought.
