It's very rare for opossums to get rabies FWIW.

Weird as it is almost seems like they used this game as a spring training type audition, looking ahead to which two non-optionable guys aren't going to stick if they really are going to call up Song (along with Seranthony's return). Because they'd rather not option Marte again (and eventually won't be able to again if they do).

Very hard to enjoy this game. I sometimes question the manager but tonight, I'm totally lost. I guess we will have the better relievers well rested for tomorrow. Another very strong start wasted.

Even if the Phillies win this game, I will remained puzzled. Maybe the Braves just are that much better than the Phillies, but don't make it this easy for them.

Totally mismanaged this game.

Phillies out hit the Braves, 11-10, but it is the runs that count.

An unsettling loss to start the homestand. Disappointing. 1 for 12 with RISP, so we got plenty of chances.

Phillies now have won 8 of the last 11, but have fallen further behind the Braves.

It was strange bullpen management given a rested pen and a tie game. Sorry to see Suarez's effort wasted. Only one walk for Phillies batters.

Listen, they could have put Alvarado or Kimbrel in there and still might have lost 2-1 on a few hits by the Braves' extremely talented players. But it was still odd. And JT probably didn't cost them the game either but it did cost us the chance to find out.

I’ve got to believe there’s an explanation for the bullpen usage tonight.

Good start by Suarez, and good ABs by Marsh. But a lot not to like with the rest of the game.

Some questionable decisions by Schwarber (bunt attempt in the 7th) and Realmuto (last out in the 8th trying to take an extra base when down by 3 runs).

Yes, our lineup just isn't as good. We had 2 players with OPS below .700, they had none. We had two players with OPS above .800; they had 6. They are the better team.

But, we matched up with them well most of last season, beat them in the playoffs, and had a nice four-game split in Atlanta just a few weeks ago. Tonight the real difference was Strider who has always owned us when he's on (and was opposed by Covey in his only/epically bad start in Atlanta). And the good news, paradoxically, is we're not going to catch them for the division so this is just another loss (vs. a two-game swing).

I imagine Thomson will also say that he was managing for the Mets series and Sanchez's start (still can't be sure he'll go long) even with the Mets spiraling. But the Hoffman move (vs. any of the others after) still curious.
