I think that was one that might have been caught by a more athletic left fielder but who knows.

McCann reached down and essentially poked the ball into the outfield.

This just feels like a season changing game.

I'd like to have Alvarez's inning back but what if he had come in when VV did? Neris has been so good for so long, it happens.

Having Vince get one out is unacceptable. Total mismanagement combined with awful pitching lost us this game. Now 2.5 games behind and have lost a few games in the bast week or so that should have been won.

Like it or not the general public does not like Kapler and he isn’t helping his case.

Of course, it is only one game, but it is one of those crushing defeats that haunt you.

Braves now have won 8 in a row and are hot. This is the game the Phillies needed to win and should have won. Win the next two and it still is a game that they should have won.

But it is a long season and all seasons have game like this. Just don't let this happen too often.

Phillies now fall 2.5 games behind the Braves.

I feel sorry for Neris. While he did allow the runs, he had a couple bad breaks on balls that some outfielders might have gotten to for outs. McCutchen is missed in the field as well as with the bat. Neris has been extremely good this season and should bounce back fine. Neris was one strike away from the save with Riley and with McCann. Unable to get that strike either time tonight, but he has gotten it most of the time this year.

The bullpen has been devastated and there are still six (down from seven) on the IL that figured to be in that bullpen coming into spring training. Getting a couple of them back can only help win games like this.
Definitely need a win or two before we leave Atlanta.

They've had a lot of these losses this season, three to the Nationals alone.

Problem is that the Dartmouth Dunce doesn't care about pitching. That much is obvious.

I'd hesitate to say that he doesn't care about pitching. The number of players on IL is something that can be anticipated. Tonight, the bullpen left them down, but of course, the Braves are in the midst of an extremely hot streak and have been scoring on everyone. Sadly, tonight our bullpen didn't get the job done.

Pivetta had a good start tonight but probably should have been taken out a little sooner. Of course, we would have second guessed that if the bullpen didn't get the job done. Managers are always second guessed even when the team wins. I think that is part of being a fan and it is often due to a love for the team and the strong desire to win.

Supposedly, there are a couple roster moves to be made in the next few days.

Seems like he cared too much, spent a lot of money on expensive older injured guys. His faith in the young starters seems to be paying off, they weren't all gonna hit. We'll get our next guy soon enough.

As AF said the other day, team was on pace to win 90 games, as expected. Not expected: the injuries and black holes (and arrested guy). Also I think everyone thought 90 would win a tight four-team NL East but it's now a two-team race where 93 or 94 might be required.

We are still the second wild card. Not what we want, but I would have taken it in March.

This was a fluke loss, how many hard hit balls?

Sometimes all the breaks go against you, all it took was one of those soft singles being hit a tad bit HARDER and they're an out. It wasn't like the bullpen imploded and gave up 3 HRs. Or a bunch of shots into the alleys.

Meanwhile, Kingery is turning into a star in front of our eyes, he's got an explosive, quick swing - when he learns how to hit (still struggles to recognize breaking balls) he's gonna be scary. We need Quinn and Haseley, Bruce should be platooning with a RH bat, and Kingery needs to take over 3B and keep it warm for Bohm, then move to 2B sometime next season.

What is with Hernandez, hot as a firecracker, then just like last year, ice cold - but this year there's no injury to blame. Franco, Herrera and Hernandez are likely to have new addresses next year, all three are big disappointments.
