How do the Brewers play 4 close games in a row and not use their two best relievers (Hader and Williams) at all? Sometimes "the book" is pretty dumb.

Funny how it's more relaxing to sit through a pitcher's duel than than a 5-4 game that used to be 5-0.

There was not gonna be a right answer in that 9th, glad the one Joe chose worked!

To Matt's point, that does seem dumb in retrospect, but when would they have used them (other than today)? It's not like the Phillies' offense needed to be shut down by better relievers.

All but one run came off the Brewers starters. While I agree its odd, it didnt factor into any of the games.

That is a process vs. outcome type observation. But it certainly applies to them using Perdomo for so long instead of one of those guys today, and it could have stayed 1-0. At that point I think Counsell was just ready to get out of Philly and save 'em, though now if they are in a blowout tomorrow he'll have to use them just to get off the rust.

The ninth inning was another nail-biter! I just glad Wheeler was able to get out of it unscathed and retain his shutout and complete game.

It’s possible that not using Hader or Williams today cost the Brewers. In a one run game, Wheeler would have had more pressure on him and might have made a mistake. Or maybe there would have been a shorter leash.

This season has already been a season of ups and downs, much like the past three seasons. Right now, we are on an "up". Here's hoping we won't run out of "ups" at the end of the season, unlike the past three years.
