Bohm is just barreling everything. Interesting that he drew lots of walks early in the season but not many during this streak. Teams are probably about to start pitching around him more (and hopefully pitching TO Bryce).
Total team effort for the @Phillies last night as they used 5 relievers to get the win. Of those 5, Orion Kerkering's sweeper came in with 19" of horizontal break, and almost half a foot of induced vertical break - marks that nabbed him our Pitch of the Day pic.twitter.com/2X3NPvPuB4— Baseball Prospectus ( @baseballpro ) May 4, 2024

Somehow it doesn't seem as exciting to know that they were in first place early in 2022, given what happened over the next six weeks.
But, if the season ended today Phillies would not only be in first place in the division, but the top NL seed.
I would say there is a huge difference being in 1st place after 4 games of the 22 season and 33 games of the 24 season.
Of course those sweepers they highlighted were right over the middle of the plate which is a dangerous place to be no matter what the break is. Kerkering really is going to need better command than he has shown so far to consistently get major league hitters out.
Ha, I forgot about the lockout. Of course 33 games is still better than 10 or 12 games. But they were also in first place in 2018 and 2019 so it's not like it's been forever.
It's the first time a Rob Thomson team has been in first place.
Excuses for Nola's poor performance: Too much rest, not warm enough weather, jet lag, hates the gross-looking city uniforms.
