That's just not the game in 2024, both with what they know about match-ups and the kind of stuff relievers throw. And there's really no reason to assume that a pitcher who just sat in the dug-out for a half-inning is going to come back for a second inning against a completely different set of hitters in the same way he did in the previous one. A fresh arm with a specific match-up is no better or worse. It is also hindsight, whether it goes wrong or right.
I can't say I expected to be following the Flyers or Sixers any longer than now (just thought the Flyers would have played four or five games first).
Also your local hockey team is still in the playoffs.

Hoffman is so valuable to this team!
Of course when your starter only goes 4 and you don't have a long man because you have six starters it's a little tougher to not stress the pen. But Thomson is pretty good at this (i.e. Suarez's "start" in NLDS). Wonder what would have happened if they'd let Ruiz pitch? They also didn't use Soto, let's hope our (most of the time) closer can close.

Final
Can’t believe they didn’t try to steal on Alvarado. I know he is left handed, but he doesn’t really hold runners in well (like many relievers). Somewhat of a break they didn’t try to run on him.
So they could wake up in first place tomorrow by a hair, if the Dodgers win.
