Falter was about as bad a starting pitcher as there was in MLB this year. Doesn't matter what he did last year or if they can fix him, only what he wasn't able to do now.

Sanchez was presumably always the next guy up but he's had both injury and velocity issues. Nelson still hurt. The rest of the AAA rotation still a shambles. It would have been nice if the Phillies really thought they saw something in Covey but in reality he was always cannon fodder. I'm still not sure they shouldn't let him make another start - we now have a sample of three games, two of them were fine, giving him one more chance was no crazier than giving Falter eight of them.
