EF correctly points out that this is the first back to back losses for weeks. The Phillies have been playing pretty good baseball.
Tonight, they didn't play good baseball. Clearly this was a game they had well in hand and looked like they were going to start the series in LA and the road trip with a win. They lost this game more than the Dodgers won it. It is not a good start for the series or the road trip. Now we will see if they come back from this disappointing loss or if they fold up and have a bad series and road trip.
Hoskins continues to struggle and may now be hurt. He is doing so bad that he struck out even after leaving the game. He missed going 0 for 5 due to the catcher's interference in the first. He had 3 Ks. His play in left field tonight was IMO sloppy. The Phillies need Hoskins to play closer to his April than his May if they are truly going to have a strong season this year.
I am encourage by the pitching. Even tonight, the pitching was better than the results would suggest. I am very concerned by the play in the field.
Record falls to 29-22, 7 over .500, the worst position for some time.
