Lead off walk. We made them pay.

Offense shows up in the ninth. Great walk off win.

Pitching has to be credited with a good job today.

Anyone for the sweep tomorrow?

The Phillies had lost 74 straight regular season games when trailing by multiple runs in the 9th inning before their comeback win over the Reds tonight.

That's amazing. How many did they lose when leading by multiple runs in the 9th inning over that same stretch?

Was at the game, fun come from behind win. castellanos baserunning On 3rd in the ninth was awesome. He so got into the pitchers head.

Marsh's steal was a key, he would not have scored otherwise. Guy really has been a good player for us, we keep thinking that he is just a placeholder for all our CF options, but maybe he is more.

Marsh's stolen base probably robbed Pache of his shot at being the hero.

I am confident he was up for it, but I am glad he didn't have to prove it today.

:joy:

Multiple heroes in the bottom of the ninth. Each paid their part. Great win.

That interview is a hoot! The radio guys talked a lot about Castellanos' antics and what a distraction they probably were for the pitcher. Kudos to him for making the most of the moment. It's smart baseball IMO.

It really was. Castellanos was dancing around, getting in the pitchers vision, making him think about trying to get him in a pickoff. He was closer to home than 3rd by the time the pitch was going.

If teams do not hold on the runner because of their defensive shifts then this is just going to happen. We'll probably see some steals of home before the pitcher is halfway through their windup.

Solution of course is to play the 3B in the vicinity of the bag, though I imagine some sort of timing play with the 3B would be risky. At least the SS and 2B occasionally practice that. This is kind of like scratching your head as to why players did not try to hit to the opposite field when there were no fielders there. It is one example of the unanticipated consequences of analytics. If fielders are put into awkward positions to make plays they don't practice much, they are just going to mess up more of them.

It's the shift plus the limit on disengagements. And hey, steals of home are entertaining and they are trying to make the game more entertaining right?
