I think we can relax about Walker now, while he didn't shut down murderer's row, he looked like the guy they signed, was touching 94, all of his pitches seemed to work. Enough stuff to be a credible #5, and maybe even trade bait if he keeps it up.

It was a positive start for Walker. Hopefully, it will help build his confidence and he can keep it going.

However, I'm still not convinced on him as a starter for the Phils. The Rockies have a poor offensive lineup.

If Walker can do enough to create some trade value, I'm all for it. Keep our fingers crossed.

He had enough issues in spring training (not the results as much as the execution) that he needs to keep it up. But also your normal #6 starter is only going to be a 5.00 ERA guy to begin with, if that.

The reality is this was an injured player who was never truly recovered. You often see players who are bad for an entire year after coming back from a major injury. In Walker's case he didn't have a major injury but he was injured twice in the same season and never looked good coming back either time. If he's healthy and strong and age hasn't diminished him much further he could be a #4 for someone else again.

At least for yesterday, I was happy for Walker. Attitude and work ethic weren't the issue with him last year and I actually felt kind of bad for him.

Huge statement from Walker, IMHO. Last season his career was likely on the line and he's done what he needed to do to get back in shape. Just one game, but his performance was dominant. Not even bk will find fault.

I am happy for Walker. He seems like a great teammate. I was there on Cole Hamels retirement day last year and Walker pitched poorly. The crowd let him have it. As luck would have it, we had a student that had connections to bullpen coach and she got us tickets in the friends and family section. Walker’s wife and kids were 3 rows ahead of us and I felt terrible for them. They left after he was pulled. I don’t boo players, but it gave the real life perspective. I have been pulling for him ever since. I hope he has a decent season.
