Alvarado just did not have it today. Bohm really should have had that ground ball though. He just does not have a great deal of range there.

Even though it is only the Rockies, a win while Walker starts is always a good thing.

Sorry, but I prefer the Ks up front. I am okay without loading the bases.

Alvarado gives up a run but survives the bases loaded and gets back to back Ks to earn the save.

The sweep is complete! And a WIN for Walker.

Feels good to start the season 5-1, but also feels like there should be an asterisk in that we played the Nats and the Rockies. First big test coming with 3 games against the undefeated Dodgers.

Dodgers certainly will be a couple steps up in opponents and will provide the Phillies with a reality check. A series win will be a huge achievement.

Atlanta has lost 7 in a row! Close to how we opened many a season. Even if the Dodgers sweep us (which they won't), we are still 5-4.

It will be interesting to see how Joe Ross reacts to a full time bullpen role. He has never really pitched on zero days of rest successfully (3 games total, 1.2 IP, 4 ER), but I think he is going to end up being an important late inning piece when relievers are unavailable. Kerkering and Romano should be available tomorrow, but Tanner Banks is going to have to get Freeman and Ohtani out at some point.

The last NL team to lose seven in a row to start the season was...the Braves, in 2016. The Braves finished last that year, 2.5 games behind the Phillies of Odubel Herrrera and Jeremy Hellickson. The Braves fired their manager in May and hired their current manager. They featured many short term/failed Phillies: Ender Inciarte, Jason Grilli, Chase, D'Arnaud, Reid Brignac, Jeff Francoeur, and Roberto Hernandez (plus future failed Phillie Bud Norris).
