I was watching without volume, the Colorado TV feed. They have a strikezone box that shows all pitches. On the 3-2 count before that walk, 3 of the 5 pitches were in the strike box and the other two not that far off. In fact, Thursday night, the ump called many pitches outside that box strikes. Different strike zones with different umps, but it doesn't help the pitchers when the strike zone is small. The replay overturn in the sixth inning also allowed the inning to continue and the Rockies scored the second run. If that tag had been made (the ball was in the glove and down, but runner slide arm past glove to touch base), the Phillies win in 9 innings, 2-1.
Phillies pitchers did very well tonight. They pitched at a WHIP just over 1.00, while the Rockies pitchers were just under 2.00 for the game. The offense got tons of chances but just couldn't break the game open. They were 1 for 16 with RISP and left 19 on base.
A really tough loss tonight and a game that should have been won. That happens numerous times over a long season but that doesn't mean that it is another lost win that could have been recorded.
