I would guess whether or not another starter is used will depend on how Nola does tomorrow. I would not be surprised to see him start Saturday against the Cardinals.

Looks like the starters for the Mets games will be Nola , Anderson, Wheeler, and Eflin. I'd guess that gives us Moore, Nola, and Anderson for the St. Louis series.

The games tomorrow should be two 7 inning games, so it saves some innings on the pitching staff.

No. You do not start Nola on 3 days rest in April.

I'd start VV tomorrow actually in the 2nd 7-inning game. Back him up with an extra pitcher from the alternate site if needed and keep everybody else on rotation. The last thing we need is pitcher overuse early in the season.

Obviously they are not going to skip Anderson's turn. They can just get Velasquez ready, he could even appear in the bullpen as a throw day.

Of course they could also bring up an extra pitcher tomorrow. Howard?

Romero is already added to the bullpen and on DH day, I'm pretty sure they can add an additional player. Velasquez and Romero likely get some work this series.

Of course, rain predicted all week. Gelb tweets 81% Tuesday, 45% Wednesday, and 100% Thursday. Maybe they won't get all the games played.

With the rain it is probably wise to see if they actually need a 6th starter on Saturday. If they do, it is likely going to be Velasquez.
